Daycare

Nothing is more important than the
safety and security
of our children

Providing a balance between restricted control and convenience in an environment that has to facilitate learning, growth, and development is one of the largest challenges facing childcare facilities today.

Child daycare center regulations
for licensure

The primary purpose of licensing a child day care center is to safeguard the well-being of the children served. Granting a license means there is clear evidence that the building and grounds are safe; that staff are appropriately trained and responsible; and that the program shall, in practice, reflect an understanding of the healthy growth and development of children. Further, the license is meant to be an assurance to parents and the community that the children are being cared for in a safe, healthy environment.

Licensing workers from the Day Care Licensing Office will make periodic unannounced monitoring visits to the center during the hours of operation in order to determine compliance with the regulations. A license shall be denied or revoked by The Administrator of Licensing for failure to comply with regulations, or when there is evidence that the operation of the day care center will pose a threat to the health and/or safety of children enrolled.

Mechanical locks and keys have many shortcomings

• There's no way to know who used a key, when or on which door.
• There's no way to know which doors are locked and unlocked without a physical check.
• Employees can copy keys and give one to an unauthorized person.
• One mistake and the wrong person is in the door!
• Locks must be rekeyed if a key is lost, compromised or privileges are revoked.
• It could cost up to $250 to rekey a double door and provide 50 replacement keys.
